Fatigue strength evaluation of 1180MPa class recycled steel

MDR Open Deposited

In this study, we evaluated the material properties of 1180MPa class recycled steel sheets created from waste scrap and conducted two types of fatigue tests to evaluate the required performance of parts as steel sheets for automobiles. The obtained results are shown below. In the fatigue test with R = -1, when a mirror-finished test piece was used, the fatigue limit of 107 times was 600 MPa for both bending and axial force. The 107-time fatigue limit was 500 MPa for the pickled and untouched test pieces. It was shown that this difference in fatigue limit is due to the effect of surface roughness. As a result of investigating the influence of the stress ratio by the bending fatigue test, the 107th fatigue limit was 610MPa for R = -1 and 476MPa for R = 0. As a result of plotting the fatigue limit diagram, it was shown that the fatigue limit of R = 0 is located almost on the modified goodman line, and that this test material can evaluate the effect of average stress by the fatigue limit diagram.
