Electron Inelastic Mean Free Paths in Liquid Water for Energies from10 eV to 10 keV
MDR Open Deposited
It is very important to know details of the interactions of low-energy electron with liquid water for many biological applications. There have been many studies to determine IMFPs in water but there are large variations in IMFP values that are mainly due to the calculation algorithm and ELF used for the IMFP calculations. We have calculated IMFPs for liquid water from measured optical ELF for electron energies from 10 eV to 10 keV with the full Penn algorithm and with the single pole approximation with a quartic dispersion equation and with a quadratic dispersion equation for the momentum transfer q. We also compared the resulting IMFPs with other experimental and theoretical results.
