金属材料の製造過程において、溶質の移動は微細構造に大きな影響を与える。高磁場は、ローレンツ力、磁気力などを通して合金の凝固組織に影響しうる。本研究では、Cu-73.4 wt% Ag合金の一方向溶融凝固を、異なる勾配磁場下で行った。磁場なしの場合、合金は整列した樹枝状微細構造を示す。均一磁場下では、樹枝状微細構造は共晶形態に変化した。勾配磁場下では、合金は再び樹枝状微細構造を示したが、配向性は低下した。微細構造が変化する理由は、ローレンツ力と磁気力が固液界面におけるCu溶質の移動に及ぼす複合的な影響によるものと考えらる。
