Description:
(abstract)Chiral symmetry breaking in gelation is a newly emerging research subject whose examples started to be reported after entering into this century. Although macroscopic chiral symmetry breaking that spontaneously affords an optically active gel from a race- mic or achiral gelator solution has been regarded as a rare phenomenon, recent studies indicate that it might not be true and the phenomenon has just been overlooked. This review aims to promote the updates of researcher’s understanding of chiral symmetry breaking in gelation, which can take place with a certain level of probability by optimizing the nucleation conditions for gelation.
