(abstract)We describe the preparation and characterization of a stretchable ion gel with excellent mechanical properties. The ion gel can be produced in a simple one-step procedure. As the monomer and cross-linker, methyl methacrylate (MMA) and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA), respectively, were combined with an extremely small concentration of photoinitiator ([I] = 0.02 mol% against MMA monomer in feed) and mixed with the IL, 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium trifluoromethylsulfonylimide ([C2mim][TFSI]). This mixture was irradiated with UV light.
