Description:
(abstract)Preparation of hydroxyapatite/collagen (HAp/Col) paste using sodium alginate (Na-Alg) and effect of additives on the paste properties were investigated. The HAp/Col synthesized was crashed. The starting powder and Na-Alg solution with various viscosities were mixed at several powder/liquid ratios and examined various property tests. The paste added with an organic acid or a calcium compound as an additive were also prepared to examine effects of the additive on paste properties. The optimum conditions of the paste by considering injectability were defined. All additives increased viscosity, and increased decaying time but could not realize anti-decay in the present conditions. The results suggested that the HAp/Col injectable paste might be good candidate for injectable artificial bone.
