説明:
(abstract)La₃Ni₂O₇ was recently discovered to exhibit superconductivity below Tc ≃ 80 K under high pressures above ~14 GPa. Owing to its relatively high transition temperature and structural similarity to high-Tc cuprates, this finding immediately stimulated intense interest and led to the subsequent observation of superconductivity in La₄Ni₃O₁₀. These materials belong to the Ruddlesden–Popper series, composed of double- and triple-layered NiO₂ square lattices separated by LaO rock-salt layers. Research has rapidly progressed along three closely related directions: broadening the chemical diversity of the compounds, enhancing Tc through elemental substitution, and clarifying the superconducting pairing mechanism. Among these, elucidating the mechanism remains particularly challenging because key experiments must be performed under high pressure. Therefore, developing nickel oxides that become superconducting at lower pressures, ideally at ambient pressure, is a central objective, as it would enable wider chemical tuning and more detailed physical characterization. This review summarizes the current status of the field, with emphasis on sample synthesis and structural characterization, while also outlining the reported electronic properties.
