(abstract)

We demonstrate that layered materials enable all-electrical single-photon generation over a broad spectrum. We use a light emitting diode realised by vertical stacking of layered materials and achieve charge injection into the active layer containing quantum emitters. We demonstrate that the quantum emitters in WSe2 can operate electrically. We further report all-electrical single-photon generation in the visible spectrum from a new class of quantum emitters in WS2. Our results highlight the promise of layered material as a novel platform for broadband hybrid all-integrated quantum-photonic circuits.
