## Title

- title: Pressure-induced large valence transitions in Yb-Cu binary intermetallic
    systems
  title_type: original
  lang: en

## Description

- description: Electronic and crystal structures of YbCu, YbCu2, and YbCu6.5 were
studied by high-resolution X-ray absorption spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction
under pressure. YbCu exhibited a first-order transition with a sudden change in
the Yb valence at 4 GPa without a structural transition. YbCu2 showed a gradual
Yb valence change up to 11.8 GPa. Anomalous re-entrant valence transition to a
lower valence state was found in YbCu6.5 at 3-4 GPa without a structural transition.
