- description: 材料科学の学術雑誌上で発表した英語の論文をセルフアーカイブしていたところ、3年以上経っても毎月50件を越すアクセスが続いていることが分かった。社会科学の論文から引用されはじめたことが原因と考えられるが、いざその論文を読もうとすると、さまざまな障壁に直面した。このような障壁は、研究開発上の相談先を大学等に求めている民間企業の研究者も感じているそうだ。象牙の塔の外に開かれたチャンネルとして、セルフアーカイビングは有効である。
